Saturday October 6
2:30pm to 5:00pm $40 includes all materials
Presenter: Grandfather Rick McBride
Rattles are similar to drums in their use as musical and healing instruments and in that they call the spirits as they raise our energy and quickness of thought. Making a rattle is fun, and using a rattle can be for fun and social, as well as for healing.
In this workshop, you will build a “hafted” rattle (a rattle with a handle). We will have all the materials you will need for a basic rattle, including hafting dowel but you can bring your own hafting material, such as stick, antler section, bone etc., if you have something you would like to use. You will be given some ideas on how to personalize your rattle and if you choose to dedicate your rattle to healing work, you will be encouraged to wake it up at a drumming. We will be working with wet rawhide, so to help it dry faster, please bring a hair dryer if you have one.
