'Natural Language Processing in NZ' in association with GridAKL and Thematic present a talk by Corrin Lakeland

Bio:
Corrin has a PhD in Computer Science. He has taught many students subjects such as data modelling, artificial intelligence and algorithm design, as well as as a technical advisor for cool data projects such as real time systems, text synthesis, speech recognition and synthesis and simulated language development. His CV spans senior technical roles with Affinity ID, Loyalty New Zealand, Snapper and Datamine. Corrin has specialised in the use of data in marketing for the last ten years. covering all areas of advanced analytics including solutions development, propensity modelling, segmentation, profiling and forecasting. Above all, Corrin’s passion is about making data relevant to people so that it becomes an integral part of the decision making process.

Talk:
Corrin will be talking about the huge improvements in voice recognition over the last few years, and provide an example from using voice analytics in a call centre. This talk will not be super-technical, though he will be happy to answer more technical questions. Instead he will be focusing on picking business problems that are achievable given the current sophistication of technology.
