Introduction to Tai Chi (Taiji Chuan)
The complete Tai Chi system includes etiquette, stretching, Chan Ssu Jin
(Silk Reeling Exercises), Yow Jin (Waist Training), Form and Posture Work,
Standing Meditation, Push Hands, Fan, and Swords – Saber and Jian.

As there are many paths in the world, so too are there many paths in Tai Chi.
In order to properly understand Tai Chi one must first perceive it
for what it is. Tai Chi is a tool, a man-made device designed to bring about
harmony and balance between energy and mass body, mind and spirit.
Through diligent and steady practice comes, as the Chinese say,
“The Ten Thousand Things”, a euphemism for everything harmonious.

What you will be learning is the Yang Style Form and practice routines
that constantly evolve and expand to include Etiquette, Stretching, Chan Ssu Jin (Silk Reeling Exercises), Yow Jin (Waist Training), Form and Posture, Standing Meditation, Push Hands and Combat Applications.

Tai Chi classes will teach you meditation in movement and exercises designed to massage internal organs (liver, intestines, stomach, spleen, kidneys, etc.). Also to give flexibility to the spine, create a better sense of balance, stretch tendons and tone muscles in the arms and legs.

There is always a martial arts aspect involved in Tai Chi Chuan (the name Taiji Chuan, after all, means “Grand Ultimate Boxing or Fighting”). Most of the movements will be described physically in terms of attack and defense for those who are curious about the meaning or reason for particular types of movement at the same time when these movements are performed correctly the health aspects and benefits increase making it a great healing art as well.

There is also a philosophical and spiritual side of Tai Chi that can raise the quality of life and give someone peace and contentment.
