Sauer's Herbal Cures: America's First Book of Botanic Healing
Sunday, November 6th, 2pm
Ridley Creek Mansion, Ridley Creek State Park
William Woys Weaver, author of Heirloom Vegetable Gardening, will be speaking on his latest book, Sauer's Herbal Cures: America's First Book of Botanic Healing. Published in 1762 by Christopher Sauer, Mr. Weaver translates and updates it in order that we can understand and get a glimpse into the lives of the Pennsylvania Dutch to see what herbs they used for their ailments and everyday living. Doors open a 2pm for light refreshments and an opportunity to speak with local herbalists and to sample their wares. The lecture will be 3-4pm and Mr. Weaver will be available to sign books and answer questions. Admission is $7 ($5 for students, 65+, and Friends of Ridley Creek). Half of all proceeds goes to the Park. To reserve a seat, email Jayne at jstamburello@gmail.com.
