I have never sat out at Beechy Head when the ocean was so still. We were a small group, and while we sat comfortably watching the sea and having lunch, there was no sound of anyone else around. (The quiet before the storm that was the Superbowl later.)
Thanks to the birds and sea lions that showed themselves and to James for pointing out the turkey tail mushrooms and witches butter jelly fungus, and for calling in the Chestnut-backed Chickadees, and Golden-crowned Kinglets. One Pacific Wren allowed Hillary to come within a couple of feet before moving off into the underbrush.

As far as I know the roads are clear and wet, so there's no reason today to change the outing. I check again early tomorrow.
