Ok, I am finally going to set up a Contra Dancing meetup. I have no idea what I am getting myself into, but I am sure that a lot of laughter will be included in the event. This is a limited number event, so please do not rsvp yes unless you are pretty sure you can attend and keep it up to date so that if someone else can take you place if you can't make it.
What is Contra Dancing, well it is the precurser to Square Dancing and you end up moving around the floor and dancing with everyone throughout the dance.
MIT has Contra Dancing on Tuesday evenings a few times a month. They charge $6 per person to join in the fun. Please bring cash, there are cash machines in the student center. They do have regulars already and asked that I keep the attendance to 10 people or less. They also say we do not have to worry about gender as partners can be changed frequently.
The dances run from 8-10:30 and begin with some basic instruction. The people who run the event said we would be welcome to show up at 7:45 and get some extra instruction. Please wear comfortable clothes and appropriate shoes. This is a very fast moving dance and rigorous so keep that in mind.
I plan on going over to the food court on the second floor of the Student Center at 6 to grab a bite to eat before hand, anyone interested can join me. We will head upstairs to the 4th floor at 7:40 for our special introduction to the dance. If you don't join us for the pre-event, meet us at room 491 at 7:45.
