New Meetup: walk in Franklin Park

From: Rebecca

Announcing a new Meetup for Nerd Fun - Boston!

What: walk in Franklin Park

When: January 3,[masked]:45 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: Join me for a walk through Franklin Park, one of Boston's urban jewels.

The walk will be led by someone from the Franklin Park Coalition, and will cover the history of the park (designed by Olmsted, changes over the years), trees, and animals. See posting below from the Franklin Park Coalition.

The walk starts at 10am; I will be there at 9:45. Make sure you aren't late!
The meeting place is the golf clubhouse, which has a parking lot and bathroom.

Note: Google maps is wrong! (the location link in this Event listing)
So please use FPC's website to get info on directions and parking (free):
The golf clubhouse (William Devine Clubhouse) is at the top of Circuit Road (NOT the middle). From Morton Street, turn onto Circuit drive, bear right, and you'll see it on your right; from Blue Hill Avenue, go past the zoo and it's right after the zoo, on your left. If people are taking the T, I can meet you at Forest Hills (Orange line) at 9:30 (9:20?) and then we'll walk up to the Clubhouse; or, you can get off at Green St and walk up to the park.

Note: I don't have a cell phone, so you can't reach me.

I will update this event listing Saturday morning if the weather is bad and the event is cancelled; if you don't see a cancellation by 9am, then it's still on.

Event is free, but $5 donation to FPC is appreciated.

Walk off your holiday calories - please join me this Saturday, January 3rd at 10:00 am for a New Year's Walk in Franklin Park. We'll stick primarily to the paved (plowed) path. The views are exquisite this time of year. Learn park history, about the endangered woodlands, and where the great horned owl roosts. If the snow lasts, we may have our own winter wonderland. Meet at the Golf Clubhouse.

Christine Poff, Director
Franklin Park Coalition

P.S. If the weather is bad Sunday morning, call the FPC cell phone:[masked] to see if the walk is on.
