Bechdel Test Burlesque

  • Oct 18, 2013 · 8:00 PM

JO JO STILETTO, SOPHIE MALTEASE,
SAILOR ST. CLAIRE & SCARLETT O'HAIRDYE PRESENT
BECHDEL TEST BURLESQUE

In a world where women let their geek flags fly, thirteen burlesque performers will gather to celebrate female fandom through the art of striptease. And they'll do it all without having conversations about their boyfriends!

Featuring performances by burlesque luminaries Miss Indigo Blue (Miss Exotic World 2011), Lola LeSoleil (Southern Fried Burlesque Queen 2013), the Shanghai Pearl, and Iva Handfull (Kansas City Burlesque Festival Queen 2013), Bechdel Test Burlesque offers top-notch talent with a geeky flair. These superheroes of striptease will be joined by nerdlesque's rising stars, including Bolt Action, Flirty Sanchez, Maxie Milieu, Sara Dipity, Sailor St. Claire, Scarlett O'Hairdye, Sophie Maltease, Trooper, and Trojan Original, making for an explosion of nakedness and nerdiness!

Produced in association with GeekGirlCon, the country's foremost convention celebrating the female geek, Bechdel Test Burlesque will be the geekiest, most feminist burlesque show in the history of burlesque shows. Bechdel Test Burlesque will offer convention attendees, Seattle burlesque fans, and geeks of all stripes two chances to experience this epic event with showtimes at 8 pm and 11 pm at Re-Bar in Seattle (1114 Howell St). Tickets to either seating start at $15 for general admission. VIP tickets, which include a reserved seat closest to the stage, are $30.

Bechdel Test Burlesque: Because this time, the personal is political.

11p is just too late for me. Looks like I missed the boat on this one.

For those of you coming, where do you want to meet? My husband and I got tickets to the 8 p.m. show.

The 8pm show is sold out, but there are tickets still available for the 11pm show!

So will we be meeting up as a group for this event? Or is this a free-for -all? Not sure if there is assigned seating, tables, or how the building is set up. Just curious if I should be expecting a gathering, or just buying tickets to see the show.

Seating at the venue is first-come-first-served unless you get VIP tickets. If you want to plan to sit in a group of other (specific) nerds, it's probably best for everyone to buy their own tickets and then whoever gets there first to save seats.

Anyone know how parking is down there?

There's ton of cheap lots around the Re-Bar, and some free street parking if you can find it.
