What we're about

Want to meet other ladies in NWA who share the same "nerdy" interests as you? The hope for this group is to bring together the women of NWA who value fandoms above all else. We hope to host events, as well as meet up for community events throughout NWA, get together for dinner and drinks, go to movies, brewery & winery mixers, DIY nights, trivia, book club, and more!

We are here to celebrate any and all kinds of nerdy. You will never be the "wrong kind of nerdy," or "too nerdy," or "not knowledgeable enough" about something you love. There's zero shaming here. We want you to geek out about the things you're passionate about with no shame - and find new friends to geek out with!

Let me also just say - I never attended a meetup before starting this group. Truthfully, I get a bit of social anxiety around strangers & was always too intimidated to actually go to any of the meetups I joined on here. In case any of you feel hesitant to join us - please know that I both understand where you might be coming from - but also, that I hope you'll ignore those thoughts & come meet us. Everyone I have met from this group has been kind & easy to talk to & I feel like we are creating a group that is the opposite of intimidating. I feel we are curating a welcoming & safe space to meet other people with similar interests - which was my hope for this group from the very beginning. Please know you are genuinely welcome & among friends from the moment you join our group. We hope to see you soon!

Also, as a welcoming and safe space for the Nerdy Girls of NWA, please keep in mind that disrespectful behavior will not be acceptable. Nerdy Girls of NWA does not discriminate against anyone based on age, race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, etc. Please be respectful and accepting of all fellow nerds who join our meetup.

Book Club: Watership Down by Richard Adams

Online event

"Richard Adams’s Watership Down is a timeless classic and one of the most beloved novels of all time. Set in the Hampshire Downs in Southern England, an idyllic rural landscape, this stirring tale of “suspense, hot pursuit, and derring-do” (Chicago Tribune) follows a band of rabbits in flight from the incursion of man and the destruction of their home. Led by a stouthearted pair of brothers, they travel forth from their native Sandleford warren through harrowing trials to a mysterious promised land and a more perfect society. “A marvelous story of rebellion, exile, and survival” (Sunday Telegraph) this is an unforgettable literary classic for all ages."

TheatreSquared: The Half-Life of Marie Curie

Springdale AR

Address for this event will be sent closer to the event date. Details to follow on ticket purchase. We have been graciously invited by a Nerdy Girl with TheatreSquared to enjoy their virtual streaming of the play, "The Half-Life of Marie Curie." We will be hosting an in-person watch party with discussion to follow, though if you cannot attend in person, there are still opportunities to enjoy the show virtually. Tickets will be $10/person. This will be a great opportunity to support our local theatre community. More info to follow! About the Show: "In 1911, Marie Curie won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her discovery of the elements radium and polonium. By 1912, she was the object of ruthless gossip over an alleged affair with a married Frenchman, all but erasing her achievements from public memory. Weakened and demoralized by an unrelenting and unforgiving press, Marie joins her friend and colleague Hertha Ayrton, an electromechanical engineer and suffragette, to recover from the scandal at Hertha's seaside retreat on the British coast. Presented by TheatreSquared in the first production since its New York debut, The Half-Life of Marie Curie by Lauren Gunderson (Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley) revels in the power of female friendship between two fearless scientists at the heights and depths of their careers and lives. "
