Hi - having spent 15 years in the charity sector, large and small, I can help with information on Google grants for PPC adwords, Google Apps, YouTube, online mapping etc, as well as access to reduced cost software through Charity Technology Trust. Happy to be a speaker and share knowledge on this.

I am a prospective volunteer. I would like to find out what skills are popular amongst voluntary organisations. How do I go about proving my competence? I am on benefits so I cannot afford expensive training.

I kno IBM used to run free seminars for vol sector orgs around London on this topic. Quite hands on, using Linux and OpenOffice on familiar hardware so that people used it before realising what it was.

This seems a little broad to me... What about e.g. "Five open source software systems that non-profits should be using"?

I am looking for free/open source, (and user friendly!) data mining software, especially for generation of Classification Trees, which could be very useful for the analysis of "what works" with development programs. See more at http://mandenews.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/data-mining-tools-and-evaluation.html

I know how registered charitable organisations can get free open source office tools, free cloud storage for charities and very cheap Microsoft Office packages (under 310/licence). Does this help? I can find out more in the meanwhile...
