NetSquared Victoria: Remixing the Web for Social Change

Are you a nonprofit worker who’s interested in using emerging technologies to share and collaborate with others and transform the way you work? Are you a tech expert who loves new Web toys and who’s interested in finding ways to use your skills and interests for social change?

Nonprofits and charities have a reputation for being behind the technology curve. We plan to change that - but we need you help! We're launching NetSquared Victoria to connect the nonprofit and tech communities so that we can do more good.

NetSquared is a global network of nonprofit tech meetups with 50 chapters in 20 countries, and Victoria is the latest to join the party! Please join NetSquared's Eli van der Giessen for a discussion about the most effective ways to build the tech capacity of the nonprofit sector.

Suggested donation: $5.

What we'll talk about:

NetSquared's approach to building a nonprofit tech community (Face-to-face! Monthly!) The unique needs of Victoria's nonprofit tech community Event formats that get people talking Examples of projects from NetSquared groups across the globe How you can help!
What you'll get from the event:

NONPROFIT STAFFERS will find a friendly, welcoming atmosphere for those not experienced with technology, and many chances to ask questions of tech-experienced nonprofits and experts. TECHIES will find opportunities to hear the real-world stories of nonprofit clients, and put their own expertise to social good — as well as the potential for lasting relationships (be they paid or volunteer) with leading organizations in our community. ACTIVISTS AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS will see and be given the chance to present on successful uses of technology for social change. We'll explore how technology can help support activism and where activism can push it forward.
