Your smartphone in your pocket has quietly caused video to become a powerful force in how people use the media.
Already 70 per cent of the internet is video ranging from Netflix and BBC iplayer to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. With two thirds of every UK adult having a smartphone there is a huge audience for video whether that's consuming it and sharing it to creating it.
Dan Slee (https://twitter.com/danslee) from comms2point0 (http://comms2point0.co.uk/) has co-delivered video skills workshops over the past 12-months. He'll talk you through the landscape and some tips on getting to grips with it.
TechSoup's global #StoryMakers2016 (http://forums.techsoup.org/cs/community/b/tsblog/archive/2016/03/21/storymakers-2016-is-here.aspx) opens for submissions on April 4th and closes May 31st.
For the sixth year, TechSoup's annual challenge will help nonprofits learn how to increase their storytelling skills for fundraising and advocacy purposes. They also have a contest in which they're giving away US$7,000 in cash prizes and a new camera.
We're encouraging Net Squared Midlands members to take part, even if you decided not to submit an entry - we'd love to hear about your experiences.
