Tennessee Valley - YOGA ON BLACK SANDS BEACH (10mi, easy pace)

BLACK SANDS BEACH is a Marin County Headlands beach located to the West of Golden Gate Bridge between Point Diablo and Pt. Bonita Lighthouse. Marin Headlands are always an inspiration regardless of the weather so this is a perfect outing for hikers AND yogis.

HIKE DETAILS: 

Start time: 10AM 

Distance: 10-11 Miles. 

Pace: 2-3 MPH. 

Type: Loop. 

Elevation: 1800+ Ft. 

Difficulty: Moderately Strenuous.

Hike Time: 5-6 hrs.  plus 1 hour of alignment based yoga

Parking Fee: None. 

WHAT TO BRING: Sturdy hiking shoes, layered clothing, towel & camera, water ( 2 liters). 

YOGA:  We will start with a meditation. Next, we will practice 1 hour alignment based yoga.  You can expect partner exercises to go deeper into the poses, to connect with your fellow yogis/hikers and to bring a sense of play to the poses. We will end with a breathing exercises/meditation. No yoga matts needed, let's get back to the basics. A towel can be used as your mat. 

LUNCH:  Let's promote a spirit of generosity.  Bring something for yourself to eat and something else to share with the group.  We will have a picnic on the beach after the hike.

ROUTE: From Tennessee Valley trailhead to Rhubarb Valley to Oakwood, Alta, B.A.R.T, Rodeo Valley, Black Sands Beach, Old Bunker Road, Coastal, Tennessee Valley Trail.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Fit Hikers who can handle an 9-10 mile hike with 2 to 3 m.p.h.hiking pace and all levels yogis.

DIRECTIONS:

To Tennessee Valley from San Francisco

•Go north on highway 101 •Take the Mill Valley / Stinson Beach / Hwy. 1 exit •Follow Shoreline Hwy. until you see the Tennessee Valley Road sign •The turn off will be on the left

To Tennessee Valley from the East Bay

•Take 580 west to the Richmond / San Rafael bridge •Cross the bridge (toll this direction will cost $2) •Take the second exit after the bridge, go through Larkspur and get on 101 south •Follow 101 south, Take the Mill Valley / Stinson Beach / Hwy. 1 exit •Follow Shoreline Hwy. until you see the Tennessee Valley Road sign, the turn off will be on the left

To Tennessee Valley from the North •Go south on highway 101 •Take the Mill Valley / Stinson Beach / Hwy. 1 exit •Follow Shoreline Hwy. until you see the Tennessee Valley Road sign •the turn off will be on the left.

Suggested donations for the hike is $15.00 to $20.00, but it is not mandatory. Show your love if enjoyed the yoga lesson and hike.  Or if you would like to support the growth of the  group by contributing to membership fees.
