Join us as we host a special guest speaker, Kevin Cloney, who will present on the subject of "It's more than Hot Air."
Kevin is a highly accomplished pilot and all-around advocate for lighter-than-air craft. I addition to piloting, with 1,900 hours in command, Kevin is an author, speaker and trainer, and also owns and operates Love is in the Air Ballooning, which is a locally-based Nevada LLC.
This will be an entertaining and informative presentation, and we hope you will be able to join us for "community and opportunity"
Welcome to the Nevada Aerospace professionals Meetup Group. We are a community of engineers, entrepreneurs, students, and hobbyists, all who share a common interest in staying current with activities and opportunities in the broad field of Aerospace. In particular we are interested in maintaining awareness of Aerospace activities undertaken in, or relevant to, the state of Nevada in general, or to the city of Las Vegas, in particular.
Aerospace represents a broad spectrum of types and we will be open to discussing them all, as our interests and relevance to Nevada lead us. Why cover anything from traditional aircraft/aviation, drone-centric systems or space based including cubesat technology.
What to expect...
- welcome and introductions
- summary of types of topics we may cover
- an overview of current events - "this month in Aerospace"
- open discussion of hopes and expectations for this and future sessions
- agenda setting for next session
As a general rule, we will often participate in group brainstorming sessions to work through possible solutions to challenges in Aerospace.
NOTE: please bring your laptop and any relevant reading material or links to websites for projects you might like to nominate for discussion.
This is an open group, with no prerequisites to join or participate.
However, since our discussion of "challenges and opportunities" will often be technical in nature, an engineering background, or possesion of a strong business perspective among the participants will be helpful.
We also want to encourage students currently enrolled in engineering curriculums to attend, especially those who may be considering a career in Aerospace. It is quite likely that this group will attract people either, actively employed, or recently retired, as engineers. Such infividuals will potentially have decades worth of experience in Aerospace. As such young people may benefit from mentorship offered freely by more senior members of our community.
Last but not least we want to appeal to people who have a hobbyist interest in Aerospace because we'd like to hear your perspective based on your passion for, and dedication to, this subject matter.
The time is right to convene and hold a this Meetup of this nature on a regular basis. This is particularly true due to proximity to Nellis Air Force Base, Groom Lake, and the presence of a number of medium to small aerospace companies in the Las Vegas Valley.
This means that there is an active component of Aerospace industry going on locally, and therefore we have the chance to be relevant in terms of possibly offering solutions and or services.
