STRENUOUS HIKE - MT.WEBSTER AND WEBSTER CLIFFS

This group is for hikers 50-70+(most of us are 55-65)  who haven't given up on their love of hiking and being in nature despite their age or level of physical conditioning. We hike at a pace 50% slower than the AMC Trailguide book time. Hike ratings: easy,easy/moderate, moderate, advanced moderate,moderate/strenuous, strenuous, very strenuous. Click "Hike Ratings and Wait-Listing" under Pages tab above.

We start as a group,we hike as a group and we end as a group. If you think you may not be able to keep up with the group,do not carpool. There are three other hiking Meetup groups if you want a faster pace or more challenging hikes (The New England Hiking Meetup, 4 Seasons Hiking Group, New England Over 40 Hiking Group). The hiking Meetup group, (Fellowship Of The Tortoise) does easier, slower paced hikes than  this group.  Our goal is to stay fit while enjoying the camaraderie of hikers who have similar skills and goals. If you click on the PAGES button on the home page, there is a Summer Hiking Gear List. This is a dog free hiking group. Everybody must join the group and have a picture up to be on a hike.

Trailhead: Take I93 north to exit 35,take US3 north, make a right onto US302,just past AMC's Highland Center (bathrooms) parking lot on right side of road opposite trailhead. We will hike the Webster-Jackson Trail, Webster Branch Trail and the Webster Cliff Trail to the Appalachian Trailhead on US302.Car spotting required.Good views from the summit of Webster and magnificent views descending on the Webster Cliff Trail. 5.8 miles round trip, 2,100' elevation gain, AMC booktime 4.0 hours, 7 hours estimated time for our group.----Steve ----

Thanks Marc and Tom - what a great hike!!! You made it very safe and fun along those cliffs. Amazing views of "toy" choo-choo train, bikes, and cars below us -- and the soaring birds in front of us!!

Brian ,it looks like you are the new car pool driver. I've decided to drive up on my own as I may not be coming straight back. See you there. Virginia

Hi! Just checking in to see if anyone is willing to drive to the hike from Concord. I don't feel comfortable driving to a carpool location without knowing if someone else will be there and without having a cell. phone number just in case, especially if I'm too tired to manage the drive on my own. If no one else is up to driving, I may have to switch to another hike, but would like to give as much notice as possible.

Since Joe can't make it, I am hoping someone from the remaining people in the carpool won't mind driving. It's too much for me so early in the morning. Please let me know and hopefully, we can exchange cell. phone numbers.

Sorry fellow carpoolers, something came up and I will not be able to make this great hike. Hopefully, you will be able to work out car arrangements among the four of you.
