Dana Fabbro, a senior student will present a short talk, Why Being Kind Works, a topic related to meditation and daily life from the Shambhala Buddhist tradition followed by questions and answers and a short reception.
Our world seems increasingly fueled by speed, with even the simplest of exchanges between us and others often marred by aggression. In this talk, we'll explore the possibility that kindness - though seemingly counterintuitive at times - may actually be most practical, safe and ultimately beneficial way to engage with people.
Wednesday May 15th, 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM
A free will donation for this evening's talk is requested. The New Haven Shambhala Meditation Center was established in 1975 as a not-for-profit center that promotes contemplative practice and the aspiration to realize a more wakeful, enlightened society.
The talk is preceded by a short sitting meditation and followed by Q & A. Afterward, a short reception with light refreshments & tea will take place in the Center's lounge area.
