Splendid weekend! Caves and cavorting! What could be better? Friendly Faces + Fine Food = Fabulous Fun! Great music, kudos to the chefs, the instructors, the trip leaders and all the folks that pitched in, sharing knowledge, time and experience. Looking forward to the next NRO!

I just found out loaner helmets and headlamps are in short supply. Please go to a Walmart or thrift store And pick up a cheap bicycle helmet. Two sources of light are required for the caves and you will need to see around the campsite at night anyway. Have a headlamp and a flashlight

I have room for 3 in my car coming from Queens/LI border. I can pick you up at convenient locations along the way. Its an SUV so it has room and we can also throw stuff on the roof.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this group and would love to join the meetup on Sept. 16. Would anyone have extra room in their car? I could leave anytime. Thanks!

Lisa, sent you a PM with my contact info. See you on the 16th!

Not quite sure about the price since the quote doesn't include insurance, but the rental we booked was around $125. So probably something like $50 per person with insurance, if we have four people. And then gas. Can you folks both leave around 3:30 or 4pm on Friday? Is meeting in Brooklyn ok?

    September 4, 2011

  • Tim B.

Hey Lisa, I still need a ride too. One medium largish backpack- just cloths and a tent, I'm still pretty light on gear.

Kyle and I are splitting a rental car, departing around 3:30pm from Brooklyn on Friday afternoon (9/16). It's a super-small economy size car so with camping gear and such, we're thinking we can fit one more person with a lot of gear or two people with not much at all. Tim and Avra, do you still need a ride?

    September 3, 2011

  • Tim B.

Hey all, I'm looking for a ride from NYC or Jersey City, or some folks to split a rental car.

Anyone looking for more specific answers can email me at [masked]. I live 2 miles from the campsite and know each of the caves very well. I have a few books with maps in them as well. To Chris, I would like to volunteer to help with the ropes course.

I am glad to report that Peter Haberland and I have been asked to conduct a Vertical Skills Workshop at the Bensons Cave Preserve on Saturday, September 17th. Although the workshop will start at 10AM, I am in need of volunteers to assist in setting up the rope course beforehand, starting 8:30 that same day. Any assistance will be appreciated.

This area has many interesting caves to explore.. each with its own features and level of challenge.. none too far from the campground.
