What we're about

If you enjoy contemporary visual art, you're welcome to view my latest exhibit entitled "STELLAR" during the opening reception on Thursday, July 25th from 6pm-8pm (light refreshments served). The exhibit will be opened to the public from July 26th to July the 28th every day from 11am - 8pm so you're welcome to stop by at your convenience.

ABOUT THE EXHIBIT:
STELLAR is a story of getting back to the basics in order to move forward and rediscover who I am as a visual artist. This meant using my life as the subject matter. Taking more time than usual to create each piece and being very deliberate with the composition. Painting with the brush rather than drawing with the brush. Scraping away layers of paint and collage materials that’s been building up on each found wooden panel over the last ten plus years. Working with common house paints as my main choice of medium... and purposely limiting myself to using a small stock of paintbrushes I purchased a few years ago from a recently passed away friend. He found them while dumpster diving at a local art university. Although I’m known for my mixed media screenprints, creatively I believe there are other levels to ascend to. Here I begin at STELLAR -Bobby Hill

STELLAR Open Studio and Q&A with Bobby Hill Art

17-17 Troutman St

During the upcoming Bushwick Open Studios, I'll be doing a Q&A about my history, techniques, and paintings from my recent solo exhibition STELLAR. STELLAR is a story of getting back to the basics in order to move forward and rediscover who I am as a visual artist. To me, this meant using my life as the subject matter. Taking more time than usual to create each piece and being very deliberate with the composition. Painting with the brush rather than drawing with the brush. Scraping away layers of paint and collage materials that’s been building up on each found wooden panel over the last ten plus years. Working with common house paints as my main choice of medium, and purposely limiting myself to using a small stock of paintbrushes I purchased a few years ago from a recently passed away friend. He found them while dumpster diving at a local art university. I will personally give guests an in-depth conversation detailing my creative process, my art techniques and stories of how the paintings came about. Guest will also learn about what it took to sustain working as a visual artist in NYC for almost 20 years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3bca5d6XU4 https://www.instagram.com/bobbyhillart https://bobbyhillart.com
