Summer Picnic Series #2: Summer Fruits Picnic

Chèvre Cream with Roasted Cherry Tomatoes & Basil

Let's continue to enjoy summer while it is here. For this picnic we will focus on summer fruits. You dish must incooperate at least one type of fruit in it. This should be pretty easy!

To participate you must be willing to bring at least one prepared  dish that has some sort of fruit in it. You will probably get thirsty so you might also want to bring some beverages too. If you don't want to sit on the grass you should also bring something to sit on (blankets, towels, chairs, etc)

If you would like to bring other picnic related activities feel free to do so. Dogs are welcome.

The fine print:

Please pick out what you would like to cook and confirm that you can make this event on  June 22nd. Let us know which dish you want to cook in your RSVP so we can avoid any repeats. Each cook may bring one non-cook to enjoy the meal!

Cancellations: Please be 100% committed to attending this event, and cancel 48 hours in advance. There is limited space and each member puts in a lot of time, effort, and planning into each of these events. Late cancellations affect the group as a whole. If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice, or are a no show you could be removed from the group.

The tartlets were mostly based on this recipe. The main difference was I left the olive out of the tarts and used a bit of beaten-egg on the olive tapenade version to hold everything together. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/tomato-basil-tartlets-recipe.html

Steve will also be bringing along some quince paste and cheese and crackers.
I'll make some tartlets with cheese and some without, in case someone can't eat dairy.

I thought I would go for an apple theme. Just moved in and not sure if the oven works. If it does: nutmeg & apple cake. If not I thought I would do an apple & beet root salad. Would that be too much on the salad side Michelle? In that case I can come up with something else.
