  • Learn Ethereum & Help the Homeless

    Location visible to members

Please buzz 2R and we'll ring you up! This event is a cross-event with New York Tech for Social Good. Please either RSVP here OR in the other group. Do not RSVP to both! We'll be leveraging blockchain technology (Ethereum, specifically) toward helping the homeless in a multi-part hackathon. We have a project in mind...but you have to come to the meetup to get in on the secret! The first step will be to set up our Ethereum environment and getting started with creating a "hello world" app in Solidity. Our agenda for this meetup will be specifically to: • Quickly recap the goal / vision of our app for helping the homeless • Work together to figure out how to set up our environment for building in Ethereum and specifically how it can best be used for this project • Make a basic "hello world" app in Solidity. See you all there!

Anyone who's not in the loop yet: We're trying to help cure homelessness with technological solutions. Yes, it's a crazy idea, which is why it's going to be so much fun. Come and join us. Gabba Gabba Hey. Ok Team! Let's meet and brainstorm some ideas and topics to be discussed: - How can we leverage blockchain technologies (Ethereum, Bitcoin, etc.) toward the humanitarian goal of alleviating homelessness - What are the needs of the people we're trying to help - What should we do NOW to address those needs through software -What kind of open source licensing should we use to govern the codebase, and why -Which project management processes and tools should we use to organize an open source project workflow Some places to get started (will augment list over time): Ethereum Documentation: http://www.ethdocs.org/en/latest/
