CleanWeb Hackathon NYC

From: MongoDB
Sent on: Thursday, September 27, 2012 5:49 AM

Hi Everyone, we look forward to seeing you at the meetup tonight! For those who cannot attend tonight, stay tuned for our next meetup in October!

The Cleanweb Hackathon in New York City kicking off Friday 9/28 @AlleyNYC will bring together software developers, designers and entrepreneurs for a weekend to brainstorm solutions that address global resource constraints. A few members of the 10gen team will be there throughout the weekend to demo MongoDB and work with hackers.

In less than 30 hours, a dozen teams will create apps that tackle energy, waste, water, transportation and other sustainability issues by leveraging web, mobile and social media technologies. Teams will be equipped with datasets, APIs, pizza, and coffee; presenting their prototypes to a select panel of judges on Sunday afternoon.

The Friday night kick-off social will also feature a presentation by the Carbon War Room & Facebook to focus developers on solving big issues in key sectors that align with the city's long-term sustainability plan: On Saturday morning, participants teams will assemble at AlleyNYC for a briefing on API and datasets before beginning development of their applications. Sunday will include a press conference for media to meet and mingle with the sponsors, judges, and teams, and to attend the presentations and awards session beginning at 2:00 EST.

This event is part of the Cleanweb Hackathon Series that was started in San Francisco in September 2011 by Blake Burris and Sunil Paul which mushroomed into a global movement with Cleanweb communities and events developing in a dozen cities throughout North America, the UK and Europe in 2012.
