Save the Putnam Trail 4 Mile Run

Meet up at the Tortoise & Hare statue in VC at 5:30pm, run 4 miles out and back on the Putnam Trail, then head over to Leo Hall at Manhattan College for the meeting which begins at 7:00pm. You could also choose to only attend the meeting if you can't make the run.

This is a CRUCIAL meeting for the future of the Putnam Trail in Van Cortlandt Park!

Good run on the trail, Frank. Thanks for hosting.
The Parks board took a vote on the paving proposal and it did not pass! However, they were quick to point out that their approval was not necessary to go ahead with the plan. (Only one final permit from the DEC is needed.)

    Folks,
I send my regrets - the mid-week work crunch is holding me hostage. Enjoy the run and Save Putnam Trail!

So far so good. Looks like the storms will be isolated, and mostly to the north of the city. Regardless of the weather - PLEASE ATTEND THE MEETING AT 7PM AT THE MANHATTAN COLLEGE.

Weather forecast for Wednesday evening is for isolated T-storms. In the event that there is threatening weather at the time of the run, I will not be running, but will be hanging out somewhere safe to wait for the meeting at 7:00.

I think 'save the pavement for Madison Ave' means that's where pavement rightly belongs and not on the VC trails.

Makes sense. I was just curious as to Madison ave, and not Broadway for example. Whatever. It is just my curiosity.
Hey Ron; Great that you are coming! I am hoping to run up from home, but if it's really 85 degrees, I may just run from the GWB bus.

Do you know the tune to the Putnam song and the rest of the words? We can sing it while we're running the trail.

For those who are doing the 4mi run prior to the meeting, here is the link to the discussion forum with a photo of the "Save the Putnam Trail" tee shirt I will be wearing, so it will be easy to spot me.

Hey; Anyone know what the meaning of "save the pavement for Madison Avenue" is in the Save the Putnam trail anthem?
