Croton Dam Half Marathon, Marathon & 6.55 mile race

8:00am Saturday May 26th

Out and back course. 3.275 mile mostly flat road. Half dirt, half paved. Fairly fast. Great place to score a good time. Very scenic and mostly shaded. Hardly any car traffic. It’s like being on a trail! Course is easy to follow. Time is recorded by runner on the honor system.

Croton Gorge Park-race starts on top of Croton Dam (north side). Croton Gorge Park is also a great place to spend the afternoon,

Train-take Metro North Hudson Line from Grand Central to Croton-Harmon. There is a 6:20am train from Grand Central that arrives in Croton at 7:28am. Same train leaves Harlem 125th St. at 6:30am. (Croton Dam is 3 miles from train station). Taxi’s at train will take you to Croton Dam for $8. Taxi’s are available to go back to train as well, Taxi phone is[masked]-0621.

Driving-Plenty of parking at Croton Gorge Park. It’s a short walk to top of Dam. (RR 129, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567. (note this is NOT Croton Point Park, the location is Croton Gorge Park.)

Details-You can leave your own aid at start. Nobody will be watching bags but it should be safe. I will have some gallon water jugs and cookies at start and at mile 3.275 turn around point. Bring your own water bottle so you can fill up.

    Had a great time completing the 1/2 marathon and meeting everyone. It was a good group and a great day for a run. How many opportunities are you going to have to run on the Taconic Parkway? You just have to remember to stop before the hole gap in the bridge.
