Hi ladies,

my name is Sabrina; I am a member of this little book club and in Chicago during the summer months to carry out research as part of my PhD in Germany. As a research assistant in the field of Intercultural Communication, I am interested in the way Chicagoans experience and perceive Islam in their city. In order to learn more about urban encounters and local points of view, I am doing group discussions with residents of Chicagoland, where one of the biggest Muslim communities is located. Since I am looking for groups that meet kind of regularly and enjoy conversations, I would be very happy if some of you would be interested in participating! It would be an open conversations around a few questions and impulses that I would provide; the discussion would start with a little film clip. Basically, there is no need for a sound expertise on Islam on your site – but if you have, that would be interesting, too. I imagine this to be a very insightful and lively conversation, so please take part!

As soon as I know if some of you are interested, I will suggest a suitable time to meet (for example on a weekend afternoon or weekday evening). The discussion would last about 1.5 – 2 hours depending a little bit on your “fire for the subject”. I will find us a suitable quite room somewhere central; ideally where we can get some coffee & tea (otherwise I will provide it). Of course, the discussion will remain completely anonymous and would be used only for my PhD.

If you have any questions, please let me know (my numer:[masked]; email: [masked]).
