Hal Foster lectures on the Rapport between Painting, Photography, and Design in Pop Art
One of the world’s leading art historians, professor Hal Foster from Princeton University has in recent years done research on the visual culture of early pop art and the new identity of the artist as a designer. Foster’s book, ’The First Pop Age ’(2011) discusses Richard Hamilton, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter and Ed Ruscha, presenting an exciting new interpretation of Pop art through the work of these Pop Five. As The First Pop Age looks back to the early years of Pop art, it also raises important questions about the present: What has changed in the look of screened and scanned images today? Is our media environment qualitatively different from that described by Warhol and company? Have we moved beyond the Pop age, or do we live in its aftermath?

To attend and get free entrance to the museum please send a mail to Kristin Terp Jensen at [masked] referring to The Copenhagen Book.
