What we're about

Are you a licensed amateur radio operator? Do you want to be? Do you love tinkering with electronics? Are you into experimenting with programming, radio technology, or want a chance to talk to an astronaut in space? If you're looking for a meaningful way to provide a community service, or are just looking to experiment with computers and radio waves - this meetup is for you!

We hope to meet at least once every month in different parts of the city. Some meetups with be associated with existing amateur radio groups or clubs, other events will be held at startups or at bars.

If you are already licensed, these meetups will have at least one if not all of the following:

• An opportunity to show off a new piece of equipment or a restored piece of vintage equipment

• Educational talks about a part of the hobby or a specific technical aspect that you want to share

• A discussion of the current state of of the hobby in the area

• A place to safely buy and trade equipment

• A sign up for a community service event with an amateur radio community service group

• Sometimes, the meetup will occur before or after the official business of an existing amateur radio group

If you are not licensed, these meetups will:

• Be a great place to meet someone who is licensed and check out their equipment

• Have nice and respectful folks who will answer your questions

• Be a starting point for learning about the hobby and where to get licensed
