What we're about
Upcoming events (4)
We'll head to the Town Dock in Salisbury before twilight, and hopefully catch a brilliantly-lit sky over the water as the sun goes down. IMPORTANT: please bring and wear a mask to this event. MA requires masks be worn anywhere outside the home and may fine offenders $300. Check the map for directions, but the basics are that you'll take First Street in Salisbury (just north of the Salisbury-Newburyport bridge) eastward. Just when the road takes a sharp left bend, look for the town docks on the right at the water. Please note that, while unlikely, it is possible that the docks or street will be off-limits. Please anticipate keeping a socially-safe distance from others, and bring a mask in case it's crowded. I'd recommend a tripod if you have one.
Welcome to another creative challenge review. This meeting will be online via Zoom. Once you connect (by clicking the meeting link and following any instructions on downloading plugins and such) you'll be placed in a virtual waiting room. I'll collect you all from that waiting room once the meeting starts. Although we've allowed for an hour for this meeting, I expect it will be closer to a half that. This Week's Challenge... The challenge for this week is a do-it-yourself-at-home challenge. The idea is Creative Self-Portraits at Home. I know, I know, you're squirming at the idea of taking and sharing a self-portrait. This will be a challenge for some of you (and fun for most of you, I hope), but that was the same reaction I got when we did something similar as a monthly challenge many years back. It ended up being one of the best and most-contributed challenges we did. The key is to creatively interpret "self-portrait". For some inspiration, check out the following five galleries: https://500px.com/500px/galleries/creative-portraits-at-home https://expertphotography.com/21-creative-self-portrait-photography-ideas/ https://iso.500px.com/creative-self-portraits/ https://www.thephotoargus.com/30-creative-self-portrait-photography-examples-get-inspired/ https://www.boredart.com/2014/07/creative-self-portrait-ideas.html When you're done, upload up to three images of your results. The Seacoast Photographers Group has been meeting monthly in the NH Seacoast area for over ten years. Now that we've moved online (for the time being, at least), consider joining us from the comfort of your living room or back deck. This meeting will be online via Zoom. Anyone that RSVP'd will see the necessary information. If you don't, please contact me through this Meetup site. Once you connect (by clicking the meeting link and following any instructions on downloading plugins and such) you'll be placed in a virtual waiting room. I'll collect you all from that waiting room once the meeting starts. Special Presentation We will have a brief presentation of images from a fall trip to Scotland, one of the most photogenic areas on the planet. Jenny Pivor, who was previously scheduled to give a brief presentation of her time photographing in Santorini, will present at next month's meeting. Monthly Challenge: Our challenge for this month's meeting is New Growth. Between now and the meeting, take up to three photographs which somehow speak to your interpretation of the subject - please feel free to take great liberty with your interpretation of the subject. Don't be shy, we have a very encouraging group of critics and we'll all learn something from the experience. Most of all, have fun shooting!
