2012 Presidential Debate Watch Party! @ Draft Pick Sports Bar

This is going to be a friendly and open watch party. It does not matter if you are a Democrat, Republican or can't stand either party. Our only rule is don't be a Dick. We want to show that all sides can get along and have some wings and beer.

Here's what makes me wanna drink more, and really this should be a serious debate topic:

What is wrong with our country when more than 40% of the electorate in significant state (Missouri) stil support someone who says all of this, and sits (of all things) on the Science Committee in US House of Reps:

    From Politico article this AM:

"Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin once equated abortion providers to terrorists and suggested that it was "common practice" for them to be "giving abortions to women who are not actually pregnant."

The Missouri congressman made the remarks in a 2008 speech on the House floor. They were being recirculated Wednesday on the Internet as Akin raised money in Washington for his campaign against Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill. Critics sought to link the remarks to Akin's much-criticized comment in August that women have biological ways of avoiding pregnancy in cases of "legitimate rape" — a reason he offered for his opposition to abortion."

Here are the "official" debate drinking rules for this time. I'm not going to participate, but for those who choose to do so...have at it.

      Choose a candidate:

Take a drink* every time your candidate says anything on his list
If you are drinking to Barack Obama:

      Millionaires
      Voucher
      Let me be clear
      Bain
      Inherited
      Invest
      General Motors
      Middle Class
      Families
      Clinton

      If you are drinking to
      Mitt Romney:

      16 trillion
      Unemployment
      ObamaCare
      My friend
      Job Creators
      716 billion
      Redistribute
      Private Sector
      Work
      Reagan

The rest of the rules can be found at http://www.debatedrin...

Leaving Denver on October 3. Hoping to get out before I25 is closed in both directions. If not too many people are using I70 for an alternate route, I'll be back in Austin in time! Looking forward to meeting new people and enjoying the debate with you all.

Well said, Mr. Organizer! As an independent - always - and having gone roughly 50-50 over the years, I wholeheartedly second your dictum for the party. Not always, but oftentimes, social truths lie somewhere near the center. How many people today would have had a problem with Beatles music, or clothes, or hair from yesteryear? And, look at where we are today, with music and music videos of all genres, or clothes for example. How much of today's technology, or science, could ever have come from the minds of the extreme right? It's science and technology that has added great value to the common things we do in everyday life, and improved living conditions for the masses, compared to pre 1920's. From cars to phones, to airplanes, to medical tech to cheap food, or even a/c and heat for that matter. Science and tech will win out in the end. Social change happens..slowly, and often at the margins of the status quo. Execept in ATX, which is why I love ATX. Yeah, so just take it easy....
