Our free kid camping for novice parents event makes it possible and easy to take your 2 to 17-year-old child(ren) camping. Here's how: • Camping duration is one OR two nights -- your choice. • You MUST have children to attend the event -- and the children will entertain each other. Lake swimming area located onsite. • Group campsites are ~30 mins from your Triangle home. • Park 20 feet from the group campsite. • We help you set up your campsite and tent (which you can either borrow free or buy for <$50). • No cooking required. Bring food you don't have to cook (eg, Fast Food) and/or go to the grocery store 20-mins away. (You're welcome to bring your own drink too.) * Large, group campfire and charcoal grill provided for those who prefer hot meals. * Breakfast and S'mores-makings provided. • Campfire built for group use and social gathering. • Bathrooms and showers are next to campsite. • Post-camping pack-up and clean-up assistance provided. You're kids love camping and -- as easy as we make it -- you'll love it too! RSVP and make yours happy; as well as new friends for you and them at the same time.
Get your kids off that technology and help them make new friends and build memories through old-fashioned fun in the sun. The Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance is a very family-friendly celebration of music, dance, art and education - Music Lovers' Paradise! Whether it's for one night or two, camping here is a breeze and all you really need is a tent and a sleeping bag. There are onsite food trucks/booths serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also coffee, booze and free water! (You can BYOF and BYOB.) I've been to this five times and it is a magical experience. The people are the most friendly you'll ever meet and everyone is in a good mood. Plus, it's a music lover's paradise. Not into music? Well, there is also yoga, poetry, magic acts, massages, crafts, etc. Kids are optional, but will be entertained with an hour-by-hour schedule of crafts and activities for them -- hosted by Shakori volunteers. Tent camping in $20-$25 for your entire stay. You do need to buy festival tickets, but kids are free :-) RSVP on FB now and then buy your camping and show tickets here: https://shakorihillsgrassroots.org/tickets-info/
Join our group and 100s of other kids for a day of family fun. There will be instructor-led craft making and a kid bazaar where they can sell them or anything they've brought from home. They'll also march in a musical parade with the Paper Hand Puppet Intervention, have their face painted (free), goof with bubbles and play fun games. All amongst beautiful outdoor surroundings. Food and beverage vendors will be onsite, as will all-day music and family-friendly performances. Grown-ups need to buy their day ticket, but all kids are free. I will be there with my 8- and 9-year-old girls (for our sixth time). Want even more family fun? Consider camping overnight with us and hundreds of other families in the festival's family campground ($20). Check out that event in our event section on this page.
