This is a group for anyone interested in learning more about the powerful features and services available with Amazon Web Services. This will be a great chance to meet up with other users, architects, etc. to learn (and teach!). Whether you're passionate about cloud computing or just curious, this is the place to scratch that itch.
We sometimes chat in the Northern Colorado Tech Meetups Slack group. You can sign up here: https://goo.gl/BLQz41
Whether you're new to AWS or a long time user, you're welcome to come out, learn some new things and socialize with other AWS enthusiasts and professionals.
In February we had our first ever hands-on lab where we tried to actually *build* something on AWS rather than just talking about it. Frankly, it was a bit rocky mostly due to people's laptop setups and only having a single instructor. We're going to take the lessons from our first event and make the second edition awesome.
NOTE! Please read comments below as there are some prerequisites in order for this to be a success.
Our goal will be to build a serverless backend which powers a real-time chat application, using WebSockets and Python. Websocket support for API Gateway is new, so this will be really fun.
In order to capitalize on this workshop there are some things you'll need to do:
- Bring a laptop
- Have a code editor (Notepad or TextEdit doesn't count)
- Have either the Serverless framework installed, *or* a functioning Docker setup
- Have access to a command line (i.e. Bash)
- Have your own AWS account
