Ext JS / Javascript - March Meetup

  • Mar 24, 2010 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

We are excited to keep the momentum building and announce this month's Meetup to be hosted by Resonate Networks in Reston! The team at Resonate are doing some very cool stuff with their product regarding Flash charting and data visualization that will make for a great presentation. Darren Govoni will demonstrate his remote JSON and JavaScript loader, for which he leverages in his own Ext JS application. Lastly, I will be providing a live and private demonstration of the pre-alpha Ext JS designer. Our last two meetups were packed. RSVP now.

Darren, please send the source PPT of your presentation to jgarcia at tdg-i.com

I would like to get a video of your presentation online.

    It was nice one.

Excellent Darren. Looks great. The only suggestion I have is somehow making the screenshots bigger (take them in lower resolution). What we learned before is that projectors don't typically display screenshots well.

    Hi,
I posted my presentation slides (about a dozen) to grab beforehand if desired. http://www.gridwavetech.com/fusion-talk.pdf

    See everyone tomorrow!

UPDATE: I spoke with the good folks Resonate and they suggested following the meetup with a happy hour afterwards at Rio Grande across the street in Reston Towncenter!

An FYI to all meetup memebers,

I had a nice call with the CEO of Ext JS and have some exciting news to be announced for the first time publicly at *our* meetup!

    Darren,

I just confirmed that we *do* have wifi. So, game on! :)

That, I cannot promise :(. I'll ping pat to verify.

Btw, do you have any issues with being recorded? Do you have screen capture software? I like to record the presentations for those who cannot be there. For example: http://vimeo.com/9758715

Will there be wi-fi though? My application that demonstrates the technique hits my amazon account to login.

Jay, sounds perfect. I can do that. I will do a couple of "why is this cool for you!" slides, why I did it, the importance in general and a quick demo of it in action. I will keep the code walkthrough to a quick, "Look how little of it there is." for this time. And there _are_ some challenges and feedback about it (e.g. cross-browser) I'm looking for too and will highlight that. Thanks!

I'd prefer it to be on a higher level, if possible. If the code is not too complicated, then a walk through is OK. Just be sure that your editor/IDE can scale so the code can be visible in a 1024x768 (Projector) format. I would like to add that some slides would be good too. Perhaps, what challenges does the code face? What value does it add to an application, etc. :)

    I'm excited about this.

Hi Jay, are you saying you prefer the code discussions to be high level or low level? I figured I would show the code, but if you want high level, I can do some slides. Its not very lengthy overall.

    Hi Darren,

I think that would be great. My biggest concern is that the code discussions would be as high-level as possible. What are your thoughts on this feedback?

Are the presentations informal? I could probably show my json javascript code loader in my extjs app. Its similar to how the OSGI platform works (modules), except in javascript.

We are about two weeks away from this event. Any one care to present? Else, I will :)

If anyone is willing to present something, we'd be more than happy to have you, else I will fall back to a topic that has been submitted.
