In this talk we will examine how to use Node.js for building a simple media transcoding service powered by a CLI Application. ------------ Testing apps with third-party API integrations (English) ------------ In this talk we will examine strategies and best practices to develop and test node apps that make heavy use of third-party API integrations. As reliance on third-party services becomes more and more prevalent in the node ecosystem, developers need cost-effective, secure, reliable and fast ways to mock these services for both dev/staging environments and testing. *** Please send proposals to [masked]

  • July Node.js monthly meetup

    Autodesk TLV

Hi Node developers! PLEASE UPDATE YOUR RSVP IF YOU CAN'T COME. Agenda: 18:00 - Gathering, mingling, pizza and beers 18:30 - Capture the flag By Yossi Alush - team leader @ Autodesk 19:10 - **Runtime JavaScript compiling: Using Abstract Syntax Tree and runtime compilation to analyze and execute javascript at runtime.** In the February meetup, Daniel and Yair gave an excellent look on how the v8 and transpiler engines work under the hood. In this lecture, we are going "above the hood", sitting in the drivers' seat, and looking at ways we can take advantage of the AST and v8 module to analyze and dynamically create JavaScript code at runtime. In the first part we will briefly see how classic tools like Babel and Istanbul work under the hood, and then use their helper libraries to parse and transform our code to accomplish some fascinating results. In the second part we will see how the "require" function of Node JS actually works, and take advantage of its implementation to execute JavaScript that was created during runtime. During the talk, we will see the classic NPM packages that are involved in this process, and some great free tools you can use in the process.
