What we're about

The Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) was founded by Astronaut Edgar Mitchell in the 1970's inspired by his profound spiritual experience while traveling back from the moon during the Apollo 14 space mission. Dr. Mitchell founded IONS to begin the scientific study of states of consciousness, distant healing, global wisdom, and psychic phenomenon. Over the years, many community groups have been formed to discuss the work in progress and to further the work. The Tampa Bay group has been active for over 15 years and is devoted to increasing the community coherence, furthering the mission of IONS, and helping to bring about a positive transformation toward a world that works for all. We join Dr. Mitchell in his great exploration of inner space. We join the Masters and Guides in this quest for environmental sustainability, social justice, and spiritual fulfillment (the goals of Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream Symposium).

Part 2: Upcoming noetic events

Part 1: A call to conscious activism As noetic scientists and conscious activists, we are called to not only understand our interconnectedness, but to act upon it. Thus I am asking each of you to take the time to call the State Senators listed below regarding Senate Bill 318. This pro-fracking bill was defeated in the Appropriations Committee on February 25th by a vote of 10 to 9. Senator Tom Lee then made a parliamentary maneuver to vote again on the bill, and is pressuring other committee members to pass the measure which would certainly contribute to the destruction of our fragile Florida ecosystem and aquifer. The bill will come up for a vote on Tuesday of this week! We are connected to our Living Earth. I urge each of you to consult with your inner guides (Intelligence, God, Spirit, etc.) and take a stand as you are led. Your children and grandchildren will someday thank you for your wisdom and strength. Senators who voted against the bill: Encourage them to STAY STRONG and not acquiesce!!

From the Sacred Lands website http://www.sacredlandspreservationandeducation.org/ : Sacred Lands Preservation and Education, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving land that has historical and archaeological significance. We are committed to protect the Narvaez/Anderson Indian mound which is the site of an ancient Tocobaga village. We honor the Tocobaga Indians who lived here and are now gone and unable to speak for themselves. We present programs about the history of this land, environmental issues, nature and spirituality. We have a special interest in the arts and music and enjoy combining learning about this special site with entertainment. All our programs have the goal of assisting people in feeling the truth of the statement that we are all related.

The Green Frog Moon Festival is Sacred Lands' annual fundraising event - filled with entertainment, nourishing food, vendors, Native American flute lessons, and friends. Featuring nationally known recording artists Arvel Bird and Ed Winddancer on Saturday, and Red Tail Project on Sunday.
