Wine Tasting: A New Take on The Basics

You may not know everything about wine-- but you know Cabernet and Chardonnay, right?  Or do you?  For this Meetup, we're going back to the basics to show you how three different versions of the same grape can give you three totally different experiences.  This is where the winemaking and terroir matter!  If you're a relative newbie, this is a good way to familiarize yourself with the "classics" in a way that can make you sound sophisticated when you order at that fancy restaurant.

Wines for Tasting (subject to availability):

- 2009 Michel Picard Chardonnay (Bourgogne, France)
- 2012 Morgan "Metallico" Chardonnay (Santa Lucia Highlands, CA)
- 2011 Talbott Logan "Sleepy Hollow" Chardonnay (Santa Lucia Highlands, CA)
- 2011 "The Seeker" Cabernet Sauvignon (Central Valley, Chile)
- 2010 If You See Kay [Cabernet Sauvignon] (Lazio, Italy)
- 2011 "Ghost Pines" Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa/Sonoma, CA)

We'll start off with a quick discussion about smelling, tasting, pairing, buying and storing wine.  Gourmet small bites will be served, but you may want to plan on dinner after.  Please pay via Paypal when you RSVP.  (If you would like to pay by cash or check, please send an email to [masked].) If you don't eat/like any particular food, let us know in advance so we can prepare!
