The purpose of this book club is to provide a relaxed, fun and social environment for women who enjoy reading non-fiction. Ideally, members will be:
- politically and socially aware
- women in their 20s, 30s or 40s who enjoy a good non-fiction book, a good laugh, brunching (and perhaps even the occasional drink!) and are looking to expand their social group
Each session is limited to max 6 members, and the group itself is intentionally restricted in numbers so we can function as a proper book club and allow us all to get to know each other.
The kind of books we read cover a broad range of topics, from Freakonomics, Bad Science, Thinking Fast and Slow, The Tipping Point - from psychology to economics and everything in between. The actual title month to month depends on what the group is interested in and everyone is welcome to organise sessions.
If this sounds like something you might be interested in, do join!
Going forward we will start charging £1 per session, payable when you sign up. This is to cover the fee Meetup charges annually, and also so that we have a reasonable level of comfort that those signing up to a session can really make it. The club is not for profit, so we'll have an end of year bash if there's anything left over once the Meetup fees are paid.
