Meetings will focus on Richard Moss' book "Inside-Out Healing." We'll repeat an approach that worked for an earlier group of going slowly over the text page by page, commenting on each section as the need arises. As a result, our discussions were less mental and more about our own search. I invite you to join with us as we go through this together.
First, who is Richard Moss? Richard Moss, M.D. had his first “awakening” thirty years ago and has been teaching ever since. He gave up an active medical practice long ago to serve as a “consciousness teacher.” Moss is the author of numerous books, but most importantly his focus is about present moment awareness.
Most of us run (escape) from the present moment because of unpleasant feelings that we experience, regardless of whether they are felt in our body or perceived as something external. He presents an embodied approach to release us from ego stories about the ‘Past, Future, Me, You’. The book presents a really clear picture of the ego. Instead of avoiding negative feelings, Moss uses them as an opportunity to become more present. And rather than talk about spiritual states and experiences, he prefers to talk about how we become more present. The book rings with an ‘aliveness’ and authenticity.
The book is available ‘new’ from Amazon for $12.22, and less if ‘used’. Several of Moss' talks are available on YouTube. Even if you decide not to attend the “Inside-Out Healing Meetings,” you might still find his book useful. In case you are late in getting the book, we'll probably start the first meeting slowly and you can follow along.
Our first meeting will take place Thursday, July 25th at 7pm. Meetings generally take place in my house in Squirrel Hill; if the group is large enough, we’ll meet in the Friend’s House on Ellsworth in Oakland. We generally arrange meetings around people’s schedules, but will aim to meet every two weeks.
