What we're about

What could be more important in these uncertain times than world peace? The Chicago chapter of Nonviolent Peaceforce promotes unarmed civilian peacekeeping (UCP) through conversation as a viable alternative to using firearms. This method of peacekeeping was recognized by the UN last year largely through the efforts of Mel Duncan, co-found of the Nonviolent Peaceforce. A total of 42 organizations worldwide are now known to provide UCP. The group will learn about the worldwide use of civilian/non-combatant conversation to protect women and children. How civilians can provide safe passage to schools and hospitals. We will work to raise awareness in our local community this viable road to peace that does not include firearms. Opportunities for training in the techniques of UCP will be offered. For anyone who believe in taking active steps to achieve peace.
