This is a group for women only who want to participate in hiking and camping activities in the SE TN and North GA area. We will start by meeting up once a month on a weekend day for a hike; a quarterly camping trip will also be offered!
**Due to a scheduling conflict, we will celebrate belatedly on June 9th***
National Trails Day is the only nationally coordinated event designed to unite all trail activities with the goal of connecting more people to trails.
Each year, on the first Saturday of June, American Hiking Society and the trails community invite Americans of all ages and abilities to find their own adventure and discover their unique story at one of the thousands of events hosted throughout the country. I'm really excited to be hosting a local hike on beautiful Lookout Mountain to celebrate the trails there!
We will hike the Kiddie Trail up to Gum Spring, then continue to Cravens House via the Rifle Pits Trail, then up to Sunset Rock on the Bluff Trail and come back down on the other side to Gum Springs and back down the Kiddie Trail for about 6 miles total. This is an up and down hike with beautiful views, hidden streams and waterfalls, and enormous boulders; there will be lots of shade this time of year! Bring a lunch and at least 4 bottles of water! Hiking poles are strongly recommended -- I have a couple extra ones to loan if needed. Dogs are welcome!
$10 FEE: this hike fee supports the important conservation work of Reflection Riding. We will go and make our donations after the hike -- Reflection Riding is literally right around the corner from where the trailhead is.
**Parking is very limited at the trailhead so we'll carpool from the meet-up location.
