Hike Black Mountain

This is a Paleo Fitness course along the lines of Hebert's Method Naturelle.

We'll meet at the parking lot of Monte Bello Open Space Preserve. We'll hike up Black Mountain, stop under a pair of giant old oak trees to do a little primal tree-climbing. As we hike onward, we may encounter wild mule deer and try stalking them. Also, fresh springs may appear trailside, as will a variety of edible plant. When we reach the summit, we'll find a field littered by boulders perfect for lifting before we head back down the mountain.

I'm so sorry you got stood up, Douglas. I'm thinking that people probably forgot. With the infrequency of meet ups in this group, it seems logical. Maybe for future hikes we should exchange phone numbers so we can remind eachother? I am very excited about these hikes and don't want for you to be discouraged.

Didn't see anyone who showed up. If we missed connections I am sorry, but I can't abide being stood up. :(

Let's look into bringing paleo-food that is "portable", trail-food etc.
Looks like rain-free on Saturday, but watch the weather. Mornings are chilly and I advise some sort of warm hat until we're warmed up. You're responsible for bringing your own water. :)

I'd love it if a few of us went up part way and headed back together.

@Sara and Melissa you could do part of the hike. I am thinking of going but can't spare 5-7 hours.

If this is correct, I don't think I'll be able to make it with the baby strapped to my back. Not so much for the intensity as for the time traveled. She'd want to get out and walk herself, Which would take us about a month to get up the mountain at her rate of travel!

I need to know an estimate for how long this hike lasts due to child care.

We can make it Feb 18 and move time to 9:00. I have a hiking/nature group where I can co-schedule this.

It's not too bad. There's two trails that take you up there, one's more gradual, and the other one is steeper and more difficult. It's one of my favorite hikes so I hope I can make whatever date is decided.

How fit does one have to be to accomplish this?
