I just graduated from UC Berkeley in May with a degree is in Chinese. Beyond incessantly memorizing hundreds of characters a week, I also spent much time attempting to Bollywood-dance my way to fitness at the school gym, but I spent even more time writing, editing and multimedia producing at the Daily Californian. My literal and figurative blood, sweat and tears probably still remain in the office; it was truly a labor of love. I also interned at the San Francisco Chronicle for two semesters (where I still freelance) and the Northern Colorado Business Report. I'm presently a full-time reporter at the Half Moon Bay Review. So, yes. I have been a journalist, I am a journalist and I plan to continue being a journalist! I'm always looking for fresh ideas in the industry, and enjoy nerding out in discussions about it.
Freelancers of the Bay...UNITE! Discuss ideas for out of the box freelance outlets and projects, at home and abroad. Especially abroad. Are you based in in Northern California, but contribute to publications in far-off lands? Did your local experience influence your experience outside of the region, and vice-versa? Share your experiences.
I love food, words and people - not necessarily in that order. I'm a recent Cal grad from Colorado, life-long wanderer and storyteller. The dream is to live on the Pacific Rim and make a living talking to people while telling stories about it.
