No rules. When I lived in San Francisco I belonged to a book club. We met every week at a coffee house. We took turns picking the book, and talked about as much as we had all gotten through each week. Now we live in Saint Paul, so I have revived the book club here. If you're from Minnesota, you're still welcome, just please take your cues on how to behave in social situations from the non-Minnesotans around you.
Here are the details right now, but we can change the location or the time as the group chooses. We meet every Thursday at 7PM at Kopplin's Coffee, on Marshall at Cleveland in Saint Paul. We are currently reading The Man Who Loved Children by Christina Stead. Please see the archive of past meetings to see the other books we've read, and always check the upcoming meeting to see what we're reading next. Please come even if you're just starting the book; don't worry about how much you've read. It's more important to meet cool people! We take turns picking books, so if you start coming, you'll get to pick a book too.
Well, after creating this description, I was shocked to find out Meetup makes you PAY them for the listing! It's $14.99 a month. So, we'll leave this up until we have a good number of people. If you can chip in a dollar or two, great, but don't let that stop you from coming.
IMPORTANT: Meetup limits the size of this "group" to 50 members, so it's not possible right now for new members to join and RSVP to an upcoming meeting. But that doesn't mean you can't come! What's to stop you from buying the book and showing up at the coffee house on Thursday evening?
