Mrs. Miniver (1942) Discuss and Socialize
1942's Best Picture stars Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon in this romantic war drama depicting how an English family's comfortable life is turned upside down by World War II. The family, headed by the lovely and gracious matriarch, endures the departure of the father for the beaches at Dunkirk, the discovery of a wounded Nazi pilot, the death of the daughter-in-law in an air raid, and the entry of the son into the Royal Air Force. Mrs. Miniver won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director (William Wyler), Best Actress (Greer Garson), and Best Supporting Actress (Teresa Wright) and deserves every one of them in spades! In 2006, the film was ranked number 40 on the American Film Institute's list celebrating the most inspirational films of all time. In 2009, the film was named to the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically" significant, and will be preserved for all time. What we're about

This Meetup is for people who enjoy classic movies from Hollywood's Golden Age, the 30's and 40's, and who would like to meet others who share that love. We view classic films together; discuss, analyze, and critique classic movies; and socialize (share food, refreshments, and conversation)—mainly in the San Francisco North Bay.

The group was originally for 50+ singles, but is now open to everyone.
