Please describe some of your favorite authors and works in the fields mentioned in the description for this Meetup Group.

Recently I've been reading Daniel Goleman (Emotional Intellegence, Social Intellegence), Carl Jung (Man and His Symbols, The Portable Jung), The Cloud of Unknowing, Meister Eckhart, Practical Wisdom by Schwartz and Sharpe, Tao Te Ching, M. Scott Peck (The Road Less Traveled), Eugen Herrigel (The Method of Zen), Fromm's The Art of Loving (for the nth time), Umberto Eco (Art and Beauty in the Middle Ages).

What topics interest you most in what might be broadly described as the world of ideas?

Since I founded this group, the topics it focuses on are very much the ones I am interested in. I have found it especially interesting that since I have now done a lot of reading in a lot of seemingly differ fields, their are amazing threads of consistency that connect them. I hope we will discuss some of those connections in our Meetup sessions.

I'm an IT consultant with interests in classical music, jazz, history, philosophy, psychology, gardening, sailing...the arts and ideas, in general. My main hobby is directing Medieval and Renaissance choral music.

What Steve is saying about this Meetup Group

Being the organizer, I may be just a bit biased, but I think we've got a great start.
