What we're about

Once upon a time, there was a writing group that met in South Westchester and the North Bronx.

They met once weekly to share bits of their work so that they could keep a clear eye on their writing through other's perceptions of the work. Over time, through the discipline of working and reworking their pieces, making connections with the other writers and discussing ways to improve, work through blocks and ways to boost creativity, they finished a substantial body of work ready to to be enjoyed by more than just their close circle. This work could then be made public and clear the slate for the next writing project, for this group had become more than a writing group, they became a group of writers in the purest sense of the word. They wrote, they produced words, then sentences and then stories from beginning, middle and end. The more they wrote, the better they became. Until one day, over coffee, together with others, what they wrote sounded like what they wanted to say all along, that story which started in their minds became what they thought it should be out in the world crafted with language and the momentum carried them on more than just the love of writing could do, but the craft of writing that gives the highest pleasure and allows you to withstand all the misery you endure to get the rewrites and the bad sentences and the terrible paragraphs that don't belong...

This is the group I imagine. Would you like join?
