Hi, my name is George and thank you for joining my Meetup group! I started mountain biking in 2013 as a beginner. My first time at the White Water Center and the Lake Loop (Green level 3 miles) kicked my butt! I joined this Meetup group as a member, and the Organizer stepped down. So I started posting rides and kept riding. I got to meet many friendly, and a few crazy mountain bikers over the years.
Riding with others motivated me to ride more and it's a great way to stay in shape! I try to ride every weekend and tryout different restaurants too. Meetup.com charges $18 a mouth and anyone can start a Meetup group!
All skill level riders are welcome! We have many Organizers and we schedule all kinds of fun rides, trips and fun adventures. Local rides, weekend trips, camping, restaurants, pool, and cruise to Bahamas!
Our riding rules are: Ride your ride. Fast riders ride fast and slower riders ride slow. We'll stop at intersections for everyone to catch up. Helmet is required and kids under 18 must ride with parents. Water, snack, tube, pump, multi-tool and first-aid kit are recommended. First time rider needs to sign a waiver with an organizer.
Tsali trail system is one of my favorite! The hikers and the horse riders do not share the trail with us!!! 40 miles of XC style single track. Plenty climbs but not too steep and long. An easier ride compare to DuPont 20 miles.
April 20th is my half birthday and a weekend of biking with friends would be awesome! Special thanks to Alex G. who started the Tsali Trip! We do two weekend trips a year and we always have a blast!
Along with biking in Tsali, there are nice restaurants and local breweries near by. Alex has shown me the Zen of mtb+camping=fun. There are public (no alcohol), private (YES alcohol) campgrounds around. Cablins, motels, and hotels near Bryson City. RSVP your spot!
Tsali Campground is public $15 per site and no RSVP. I plan to show up before noon.
Freeman's Motel/Cabin has been Charlotte's group's choice. Thin walls, old beds and one mile away from Tsali.
Turkey Creek Campground has been the Greenville group's. Alcohol allowed and also one mile away from Tsali.
Ideas for the rides (I will post each ride as a meet up as people can do weekend or day trips):
Friday 3pm Left and Right Loop (20+ miles)
Saturday 10am Mouse and Thompson (15 miles)
Saturday 4pm Thompson (8 miles)
Sunday 130pm Lake James (10 miles)
Night time we can visit local breweries/restaurants in Bryson City and/or sit by the campfire.
