Wednesday Trailcare Each Wednesday through May we will meet 9am at the Point Parking Area in McConnells Mill State Park to improve the trails. No experience necessary; tools will be provided. Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring water and snacks.
- ANF Chapter Monthly Meeting
Join us for the monthly chapter meeting of the ANF Chapter. You do not need to be a member of our chapter to attend the meetings and make your voice heard. You do need to be a member to make motions and vote. Join us for our monthly meeting and learn how you can become more involved on the trail and in the chapter!
- Underground Railroad History - Wampum Chapter Monthly Meeting and Presentation
Wampum Depot Train Station and Community Park
Join us for the monthly Wampum Chapter presentation and business meeting. The information about the North Country Trail is always good, the conversation and discussion is always lively, and we appreciate everyone's input on our projects, hikes, and our building the future of the North Country Trail in southwestern PA. Our speaker at this month's meeting will be Dave Holoweiko from the Little Beaver Historical Society who will be presenting about the history of the Underground Railroad in Darlington. The meeting is being held at the Wampum Junction Train Station, at the south end of town, 303 Main St., right beside the bridge over the Beaver River. Refreshments will be served - all are welcome to join us.
- Breakneck Falls New Trail Building at McConnell's Mill State Park
McConnell's Mill State Park is adding a new .25-mile hiking trail - one from Eckert Bridge to the Breakneck Falls area and has asked for our assistance in getting that built. Joe Hardisky has scheduled a trail-building session on Sunday, May 19th, so we are meeting at Eckert Bridge at 1:00 PM and plan to spend a few hours charting the course and moving some rocks on this project. All are welcome to join us regardless of trail-building experience. Tools provided. Dress for the weather - sturdy footwear is recommended. If you don't want to drive your vehicle the whole way down to Eckert Bridge, parking is available at the lot to the right side of the road at the top of the hill, just past Breakneck Campground.
- Spring Hike along the NCT
Join us for our May 19 Spring Hike on the NCT near Parker, PA. Meet 10am along N River Ave (Rt 268) south of the bridge. We will shuttle hikers to the El Dorado Rd trailhead and hike 4 miles back to Parker. Optional lunch at the Riverstone Grille in Parker after the hike.
- ANF Chapter MAY Trailwork Weekend
On this weekend, we will be doing clearing and DR mowing in preparation for the A-100. This weekend will encompass worksites along the northern 50 miles. Join us for one day of the weekend or come for both and camp out with us overnight. We’ll be camping out where Root Run crosses FR 122. FR 122 is directly across the road from the Red Bridge trailhead and Root Run is about 1.25 miles down the forest road. On both Saturday and Sunday we’ll meet at 10 AM at the Red Bridge trailhead kiosk. The trail head is located on Rt 321 just north of the bridge, coordinates are N 41°[masked]’ W 078°[masked]’. Remember that “many hands make light work”. We invite all interested hikers to come out and enjoy a day in the woods! All you need to bring is appropriate clothing for the weather, water, lunch, and work gloves. All tools are provided, and no special skills are required. Anyone can help improve the trail, no matter your abilities. Hope to see you there!

- ANF Chapter May Advanced Hike
Join us once again in the forest for guided hikes! The advanced hikes are longer distances and generally maintain a faster pace. No hiker will be left behind, though! This hike will go from Dunham Siding (FR 116) to the Tionesta bridge in Kelletville, about 12.6 miles. Meet no later than 10 AM at bridge parking area (N 41°[masked]’ W 79°[masked]’) to arrange the shuttle to the start. The Kellettville bridge parking area is located on Branch Rd on the south side of bridge over the Tionesta Creek. Come prepared for the hike wearing appropriate layers for the weather and with your own food and water. Friendly dogs welcome.
- ANF Chapter May Beginner Hike 6
Join us once again in the forest for guided hikes. This sixth beginner hike will start and end at the Rt 321 Nelse Run parking going north into Tracy Ridge to the Handsome Lake Campground on the Allegheny Reservoir then looping back along the reservoir through Handsome Lake Campground and then returning to Nelse Run. The distance is 9.0 miles total. Meet at the Rt 321 Nelse Run parking lot, N 41°[masked]’ W 078°[masked]’, no later than 10 AM. This small parking lot is about 6.5 miles south of Rt 346 or about 1 mile north of Rt 321 Sugar Bay Trailhead. Please come prepared for the hike wearing appropriate layers for the weather and bringing your own food and water. Friendly dogs welcome.
