When did you start playing games? Is it a longtime hobby, a renewal, or a new interest?

Well, I've been playing RPGs for at least thirty years. Board, card and other games for about as long.

What are your current favorite board games? What "new" games are you looking forward to playing?

I enjoy the heck out of Arkham Horror, Ticket to Ride, and Small World. As for new games, I enjoy Wil Wheaton's Tabletop youtube show and want to play just about everything I've seen there. :)

What type board games are you most interested in playing (Euro-style, strategy, abstract, trivia, word, party/team) or do you like to play a variety of games? Does this include card, tile, dice, etc? If so, which ones?

I'm good trying just about anything. I enjoy new games, and I don't mind losing in order to learn how to play them. :) I find that lengthy strategy games (e.g., Samurai Swords or Axis and Allies) are most fun for me during early rounds, less so as the clock ticks on. I love "serious" deck building card games (Ascension, Thunderstone), silly card games (Bohnanza, Red Dragon Inn), as well as dice games.

Which local and/or online stores get your "Gaming Gold" (aka "your money")? Do you purchase mostly from online sites, local gaming stores, major retail stores, private/individuals or through resale?

Dragon's Lair in San Antonio gets much of my gaming gold. Of course, and ebay gets some, as well.

BoardGameGeek is a Great online resource for game info! BGG is NOT a store, it is a Resource for info. If you have a profile on, what is it? If you don't have one, why not go and create it now @

I don't... yet.

Hello. I'm Dan and I came to Houston for work about three months ago. I stick around during the week (Monday thru Thursday). On weekends, I drive back to San Antonio to be with my family. I'm looking for fun things to do during the evenings.
