What we're about

This is a group for both amateur and professional drone users committed to promoting the use of UAV's and drones for recreational, professional, search and rescue and educational purposes. We are a community of enthusiasts, business owners and professionals who come together to share tips, experiences, knowledge and to fly our aircraft. Our goal is to learn from each other and have some fun while we do it.

Please read our Standard Operating Procedures and Guidelines (http://www.meetup.com/North-Texas-Drone-User-Group/files/) document if you are new to operating drones, it could save your fingers!

Due to new FAA regulations, it is no longer necessary to register your drone for hobby use. If you still need to register a drone for commercial use, please use the following link:

FAA UAS Part 107 Drone Test Prep

Richland College

Hello everyone, Richland College is offering a 3-day workshop to help you prepare to take the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) written exam for your Remote Pilot Certificate. Day 1 is the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), the FAA waiver process, and Airspace. Day 2 is Weather, Weight and Balance. Day 3 is Flight Operations and Intro to Drone Flying. We provide online study material and practice tests which students can access even after the class is over. Hands on drone flying will be provided at the end of the course to a limited extent. Our primary emphasis is to get you to pass the FAA written exam. The workshop tuition is $299. So far we instructed the cities of Mesquite, Keller, Grand Prairie, Allen, Frisco, and the North Central Texas Council of Governments. Each have had passing grades of 90 percent. This class is also great to network with different organizations implementing drones. The book ASA Test Prep (ISBN)[masked] is recommended not required.
