We're going to give this a try and see what NTO-ers think. If folks like it, I'll make it a regular event. This is Urban Bicycling - Bring a helmet!
The plan: Be prepared to ride after dark. Our ride will start from the Trinity Trails Trailhead inside Clearfork park (off Hulen St, south of I-30). Bicycle about 5 miles to West 7th Ave. for some dinnertime eats. Then ride back to Clearfork.
The Ride: The pace will be around 7-10 miles an hour on flat concrete trails and roads. We will be taking the Trinity Trails near downtown Fort Worth, then we will use the established bicycle lanes on side streets near 7th Street.
Rules of the Road: Display proper traffic hand signals for turns and stops. There's no restrictions on riding your bicycle on the street during daylight. Headlamps and tail lights are recommended.
Bicycle Rental: Don't own a bicycle? No worries, you can now rent them from the many B-Cycle self-service bicycle rental stations around Fort Worth. There is a rental station at the Clearfork trailhead. There's usually around 8 bicycles for rent. Bicycles rented from the B-Cycle stations are equipped with headlamps and tail lamps.
It's $8 for a 24 hour rental. The caveat is you have to check in the bicycle every 30 minutes at another B-Cycle dock. Which is no big deal because the docks are everywhere! https://fortworth.bcycle.com/default.aspx
I'm open to suggestions on an eatin' place.
