What we're about

The idea is simple. Go out as a group and take photos. Any age welcome, any level of experience welcome, any kind of camera whether its the latest high tech DSLR or a phone with a camera. North Yorkshire has a wealth of cities, villages, countryside and coast. There are steam railways, speciality weekends, farming events - in short, an amazing array of photographic opportunities. The group has now been running for more than two years and we have some delightful members. We meet, on average, once a month, take some pictures, have coffee, cake and a natter, and then take some more pictures. Those that want to can share their favourite pictures from the day in our online gallery.

Everyone has a different preference for images but we all share a love of our art, whatever level we are at. I hope you can join us. Karen

Red Squirrels, Hawes DL8 3NT

Yorkshire Dales national park

The Snaizeholme red squirrel viewing area lies in the heart of the Widdale red squirrel reserve. Coniferous woodland is ideal habitat for red squirrels however they can be difficult to see in such densely planted woodland. The Snaizeholme viewpoint and surrounding woodland offer an excellent chance of getting superb views of red squirrels as they visit a feeder in a woodland clearing, with luck you may also see Roe Deer along with a variety of woodland birds such as Siskin, Lesser Redpoll and even perhaps even the Common Crossbill. This can be a 2.5 mile circular walk but there is a steep climb out of the dale, so a walking stick and boots maybe required
